Rosebud Tiara

Rosebud Tiara on Cake Central

I made this cake for my niece's third birthday. I'm not thrilled with the cake but I LOVE the tiara. It's made out of MMF and dusted with shimmer dust. I wanted to do something a little different than the usual tiara. The princess and fairies are chocolate transfers, the rosebuds are MMF. This is the WBH Chocolate chip pound cake and it is SO moist and yummy!

It's hard to tell but if you used foil to cover the board you should use other means like a complimentary paper to accent your work. The borders all around look great, however there is a spot on the left that looks like it's trying to get away from you! The tiara great and fits with the fairy theme. The CT's look great.

Critique Subgroup Member: Sorry, I got a little long winded. The fairy on fornt loks goo but I, personally, would have done it in 3D to give it some depth. Over all thsi cake has inspired me and looks wonderful :D

Critique subgroup member: You really have a pastel artist pallet. The fairy crown is cool. Here is something to look at, the design disappears into the cake. Try limiting your colors to three for a while. A dominate, subordinate and a accent and you will see how the designs will begin to pop out at you and you should count white and black as colors too in this experiment. This is a lovely girly cake though and does sound yummy.

Critique group member: Ok to me this cake has way to much purple! Everything just blends together, I think a white background with the purple on top would have been better so you see the border and scrolls better. I do love the tiara though and I think with those improvements it could be really cute.

critique group member: I love your tiara and your chocolate transfers...you really have a nack for these things. However, I feel that your design got lost in the colors. your scroll work would've looked more impressive if it had been a darker purple..and maybe just a white backgroud. and it looks as if your middle border is a totally different purple. Don't be afriad to mix too much of one color. This is a really neat design in that the cake is diff. and the tiara is nothing I have seen before! Nice work!

critique subgroup member: Welcome to the group! What a fancy smancy girly cake! I love the purple, but do think the scrolls might have shown up better in a slightly darker (or even lighter) shade of purple. That tiara is so cool! I love that it is different, yet obviously a tiara. I can see a few inconsistencies in the borders, but overall AWESOME.

critique group member: Such a pretty girly cake! I agree, too much purple ;) Your CTs are amazing! I love the princess - I know they're fairies, but i would've liked to see them a little bigger b/c I can't see them! I'm such a dope that I didn't realize it was a tiara until I read your description  it's very cute! I think having the tiers more disparate in size would add some definition. It almost appears as one. Your writing is terrific!

Critique subgroup member: your pastels are just fabulous!! I really like your tiara and your chocolate transfers seem to be your greatest medium- well done. I love the colors, personally, although the design does seem to blend in a little too much but I am sure that it doesn't appear that way in person- your designs on the sides are spectacular

Critique Subgroup Member: I wish the photo were larger because it's difficult to see the details. I would have made the top tier smaller than it is and I don't like the small silver cakeboard. Your handwriting is nice and the princess and tiara are very cute. Very clever idea for the tiara. I can't tell what is on the top of the top tier. Pretty colors.

critique subgroup member: I really like this tiara!! it is so original! I am a big fan of pastels and have a hard time using the darker accents, ( have to force myself) but they do make things pop!, I see a little attempt at this by what appears to be a darker lavender sugar on the tops, I like that. The girl looks a little amaturish, but maybe that is the look you were going for??
