Chocolate fudge cake with raspberry filling and MMF. Bottom is five 9" rounds carved to form the base and top is a half sports ball. Thank you to lilmansmum, her picture was my inspiration.
I think this is one of the best of its kind! I love the look of the metal on the base and top, and it is just so perfect! How did you get such a straight clean line on the base? My cakes never hold up to stacking that perfectly and you can always see a 'rippled' effect. Please share....
Thank you so much! In order to ensure that the base could hold the weight of the bowl with gumballs in it, I used a separator plate at the top and bottom of the stacked cakes with four columns between them. For the metal look I painted the fondant with a brush using airbrush food color and dusted it lightly with luster dust. :)
