Curious George Cake

Curious George Cake on Cake Central

I made this cake for my nephews 1st birthday. Buttercake w/ crusting BC and an FBCT, has a shell border and then a star border.

Critique Subgroup Member: Cute cake - nice colors and creative design. Really good job on the FBCT. Your BC is nice and smooth. I would have matched borders and made the cake board bigger. I agree about the star border.

critique subgroup member: very cute cake! great job on the FBCT. When doing a shell border, make sure each shell is seperate and not a continuation of icing from one to the next. I am also not a big fan of a star border, they are very difficult to look consistent and evenly piped and spaced. I love the colors on this cake! and your writing is much improved on this cake. and one last thing, make sure cake board is at least 2" bigger than cake.

Critique group member: Oh how cute! I love curious George! The sugestion I mave is to slow down on the shell border it does not have enough defintion. Also I would have done the same border on the top and the bottom.

critique subgroup member: very nicely done! I love your top border- very clean and the red really pops. Excellent design as well.

critique group member: Cute cake and I love the transfer!! Only thing I see is that your borders could be a little bit more defined/sharper, but that's it!! Great job!!

critique subgroup member: How cute is this? I love the transfer. It is sooooo Curious George. The only thing I might have done differently would have been to make the yellow a brighter yellow...that true "curious George" yellow rather than a pastel yellow. Overall, it is fantastic and I am sure everyone loved it.

Critique subgroup member: What a swet design! Your icing is very smooth ;-D the FBCT turned out beautifully. Couple of things to work on, slow down and actually make your shells on your top border, right now they look like a squiggly rope. Move on from the star border also, that is a first timer design and you are beyond that. Matching borders is perfectly fine. Get a larger board, 2 to 3 inches bigger and work on your handwriting so it doesn't look like handwritten words.

Very nice sheet cake. I think sheet cakes are hard! Love the transfer and colors. Agree the board should be bigger.
