Winter Wonderland!

Winter Wonderland! on Cake Central

I made this for my 3 year olds toddler Christmas party. He requested penguins, snowmen & christmas trees. Christmas tree is cone, royal icing, dragees & powdered sugar with Fondat star. Figures are fondanat/gumpaste. The lights are real working lights. I used lots of glittter and pixie dust! I have to give credit to all who made Penquin cakes for my inspriation here at CC! This was a fun cake to make!

For the penguins I made black balls of fondant for the body and shaped into a fat teardrop and pulled a tail out ot it. Then I made a smaller black ball and formed into a fat triangle shape. (I added Witlon Gum-Tex to my balck) I put a piece of speghetti into the body for the head to attatch to. I let the body sit for a while before adding the head so it would not get sqatty.I cut wings with the small Wilton leaf cutter. For feet I used Wilton's small oval cutter and made toes with the side of a toothpick.

For the white I just flattened a small ball until I was happy with the shape and attatched it to the black. I made holes for the eyes with toothpick and then made tiny black balls and inserted into the holes. For the beak I just made triangles and put lines so it looked like a beak! Hope that helps!

This is great. Your penguins are wonderful. What is the snowflake paper covering the board? Also, what tip did you use to do the snow effect on the sides of the cake? Great job!

I used a size 6 tip for the snow effect on the sides. The paper was metalic christmas wrapping paper.Thank you for the compliments!
