First Paid Wedding Cake

First Paid Wedding Cake on Cake Central

This is a 6. 8, and 10" carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I had so many problems with the fondant and I don't know why. It just kept tearing over and over again. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.

Pretty cake. When the fondant keeps tearing it is too dry. Try adding a teaspoon of water or coating your hands in shortening when kneading. If after that it appears to be too moist, add a tablespoon of PS. It takes a while to perfect it.Is that aluminum wrapped around that cake?

its ribbon that the bride had suplied, i thought it was kinda tacky looking, i keptr suggesting different things tto her that may look better, but thats what she had her heart set on, oh well,,,it probably didnt help that each tier is 6" tall each, I dont know if the more weight, the more easily it tears... i had to go to wal mart twice in the middle of the night to buy more fondant , i was ready to swear off cakes, but I couldnt stay away, thanks for your help
