Duel Pumpkins

Duel Pumpkins on Cake Central

2 pumpkins made for halloween, 1 to a customer the other to my grandson for his class party. To the customer the cake was pumpkin loaf cake with walnuts, to grandson it was 1/2 white, 1/2 chocolate. Both were covered with orange colored MMF. the stem was also made from fondant.

Critique Group Member: Those are awesome! For the b/c leaves I would suggest adding some corn syrup to the b/c to achieve pointed ends without a tear.

The bottom one is my favorite, the brown stem looks really natural to me. You did a fantastic job making them look real.

Amazing work on the pumpkins and love the stem! They look so realistic the only comment I would make is maybe the accents could have been more realistic also (e.g. the buttercream leaves and twirly item). Also, I'm not happy with my cake boards and want to go with a more substantial look - given the scale of the pumpkin, maybe you could have used a thicker foamcore board (?).

Critique Group Member: These look great! For a more natural looking vine, I'd suggest letting them partially dry on the form you use and then put them on the cake.. that way they can fall more naturally, but you did a great job!

your pumpkins are amazing! I agree with the comment on the cake boards- maybe more detail for the overall production :)
