Chocolate Marbles
This was a design I was playing with, and entered in the fair. Even though you cant see it in this picture the chocolate "marbles" start at the top and swirl down the cake. Cake is covered in ganache, bow is satin ribbon and fondant. Now that I have done it once it is easier to see the flaws in the design, it only got second place but it was a learning experience!
That's gorgeous! Very neat design...I love it! ;-D
Love it! Terrific job, and it looks delicious!!!! :)
Oh, come on, that's clearly first place material! Love the design.
Thank You, I actually got inspiration from jsmith's piano cake here on cc!
Cool! :)
Beautiful cake! Your ganche is so smooth. How did you stack it covered with ganache? And how did you make the marbles? Yum.
I cover the layers in ganache first and then just stack as I would any cake. Marbles are made from the bottoms of plastic easter eggs and then "glued together with chocolate" They were still a little oblong shaped which I wasn't happy about and my seams showed.
Oh, yeah, the smaller marbles of lighter color are malt balls!
Great design, love the marbles.
