Coming Up Roses Basket Cake

Coming Up Roses Basket Cake on Cake Central

This cake was done for a friend of mine last August. It's a classic white cake with cream cheese buttercream in the center, basketweaved and roses in regular (butter) buttercream. Notice the very nice blob of roses on the bottom in the center -- when I was done with the cake and trying to move it to take a picture, I stuck my thumb in the basketweave making a major mess! Those roses covered that up and it became the front of the cake! There are about 100 or so roses on top, all done on skewers.

Yes, the top of the cake is a half ball cake smeared with dark green buttercream (if you look closely you can see it). Then I made many, many, many roses on skewers (there are close to 100 on the cake which took me three hours to do) (some larger, some smaller to fill in) and placed them all with a dot of buttercream. Add a few dark green leaves and voila! :)
