thank you cakegal, you're very indulgent :D I used the wilton buttercream recipe but it came out so stiff it was a pain to ice the cake, but since it was my first cake I didn't dare to add anything to the buttercream to bring it to a better consistency :p

You did a great job on it!

Great cake! I'm sure she felt like a princess! a little hint about WIlton's recipe is that the recipe makes *stiff* icing. To get thin icing, you add 2 tsp. water per cup of icing (one recipe makes about 3 cups icing).

That is a great castle. Are your cones sitting on top of cookies?

This cake looks great! If this is your first cake you will be showing a lot of up very soon! What did you use for the door and windows and how did you cut them to that shape?

very cute! i am curious what you used for the flags...they look like sugar covered something...yummy...

Wow, thank you so much everyone for being so supportive! :) Thank you for your tip on how to thin the icing, thecakemaven, I'll do that next time I use that recipe. The cones are sitting on strawberry tartlets, I filled them with chocolate mousse so that they would be steady (and it's very yummy too). I used soft thin waffle that I cut for the windows and door. And the flags are made with sugar coated strawberry flavored candies (I live in france, I don't know if you have the same kind in the us?).
