Practice Cake

I really wanted to practice to go to a compitition this year. So here is one of my practice cakes so far. I still want to add some detail but stumped on not wanting it to look overdone

I absolutely love it! So beautifully elegant and delicate. I wouldn't add much more to it either. Maybe sprinkle some rose petals on the base as if the bride is walking down the aisle after the flower girls.

on

Its amazing! I wouldn't add anything, except maybe some pearls on the base of the middle tier.... but not necessarily. I think once you arrange some satin or tulle (maybe even a pale pink or green) around it, that will be the finishing touch you are looking for! This cake is bound to be in the top CC favs!

WOW! 8O I hope that one day, I have just a tenth of your talent and skill! Right into the faves it goes! Gorgeous!!!

8O Wow! Absolutely stunning. Really, really gorgeous. Did you hand-carve the top tier? I love the shape of it. I ADORE THIS CAKE!

Stunning! Just love it!! Into my favs it goes!! How did you get the floral look on the top tier?? I would probably add pearls as borders and just in between the folds on the bottom tier. Sit in a puddle of tulle!

on

Gorgeous just the it is! Very simple elegance is always stunning! I wouldn't add a thing. Any bride would be happy to have this for their wedding cake. Good luck in the competition! You should do great!

Looks good! Maybe some pearls? But I wouldnt add much more. Also, you want to cover your cake board in fondant. I would make it match the detail on the top tier. Judges take points off for not doing it in fondant.

Beautifully stunning, flawless work.....you have done an outstanding job on this cake, I wish you the best of luck in the compitition!!

on

Simply gorgeous and if that is a practice cake imagine how beautiful it will be when you are actually serious! :D

on

Words cannot describe what I am seeing on my screen, there are no words to express what I am looking at!!! It takes one's breath away, stunning amazing, magnificent..........and all the rest!!

on

Again, simply gorgeous! The detail is amazing and if this were in competition it would surely place in the top of the category.

wow. i love that the tiers connect so well, no gaps! also using real lace was smart...but my favorite part is the concave shape just like a real torso would be. beautiful gown, um i mean cake. :D

on

beautiful shapes. i love the idea of adding rose petals at the base as well as matching the board to the top of the gown.

on

stumped! this is fantic work! I think this is a perfect example of less is more -Excellent !I'm jealous   ya got to love this stuff- I do

I wanted to add that I can't stop looking at this cake. It's sooooo beautiful and really is perfectly executed.

on

excellent and beautiful!!! Are the buttons 1/2 pearls ..did you pipe RI or make the pearls? I had a heck of a time with some pearl placements and yours are absolutely perfect!!! Wow and Wow!!! :)

on

WOW!!!!!!!!! Is the top cake or a dummie? I was wondering how that you got that shape. BEAUTIFUL.............. ;-D

on

Wowzer! If you insist on adding to it... maybe a thin roll of "satin" where the waistline meets the skirt...or a simple bride's bouquet on the base?

on

This cake is the best wedding dress cake I have ever seen! Do you have to use a special type of lace for embossing? I tried it one time but I could not get the impression deep enough to show.

on

I think it looks perfect the way it is. You don t want to over do it. I think this is just right. The detail is stunnng and the design is just beautiful.

on

So very beautiful! The only thing I would change is that the buttons need to be on top of the 'fold', not after it - other than that it's perfect the way it is!

on

GORGEOUS! ok...writ eit up a tutorial on doing this imprint! and still waiting on the dress cake article! get busy girl!

Love this cake - If you can spare the time would love details how you achieved this look - on the techniques used to do this tier - getting the icing on the torso shape SO NEATLY, pearl buttons, wrap line - you know what I mean - LIKE EVERYTHING needed for Newbie to this style for her daughters wedding in March - used fondant for years but not this style of cake - All help greatly appreciated :D

on

WOW 8O What else can be said for such perfection! You are truly talented. Thank you for sharing your photos

on

i love it just the way it is but if you want to do more go over the detail with some silver dust i might make it pop more but letme say its very beautiful!!!!

on

Absolutely love this .Can you please tell me what size pans did you use for the whole cake .amazing job

on

This cake is beautiful. If I wanted to add more detail I would colour the bow or add a sparkling brooch to the bow instead of the rose. I think that would add to it without making it look overdone.

on

Practice??? OMG - I can't imagine the cake you plan to enter into competition looking any better. What a beautiful job!
