Winter Greetings
My mother, Catherine McClung, is the artist of some holiday dinnerware by Lenox china called "winter greetings." She is having a luncheon tomorrow and wanted a cake to match her china. I hope I did her proud! I was really afraid the cardinals would look "cartoonish." I am doing another one of these for a friend of hers at the end of the week and I think I may do something a little different on the top tier. The cardinals are chocolate transfers. I traced the image off of the bowl that I had.
Your cake is beautiful, I think you did her very proud! How did you make the cardinals?
The cardinals do not look cartoonish. How did you make them? Your mother's artistic talent has been passed onto you!!
It looks like there are 2 artists in your family...your mom and you! It is lovely.
Yes, you have made her proud. I've seen this pattern and you did a great job!

Thanks everyone! The cardinals are chocolate transfers. Sorry I forgot to mention that. I also only used real ribbon because I just cant seem to get the hang of fondant ones.

Stunning cake. What a tribute to your mother.
Absolutely gorgeous..I love it..did you do the pinecones and branches out of chocolate as well?
The pinecones are royal icing (pennysue's method, but I am afraid, not as good as her's) and the pine needles are chocolate.
