This purse was for a girl's 18th birthday. It is the first attempt at a purse cake. She loves lavendar and baby blue. The purse is buttercream. The accents are fondant. Silver shimmer paint was used for the zipper.

That is gorgeous. I'm trying my first purse cake for my very fashion-conscious sister's upcoming 23rd birthday. Any tips or tricks of the trade you care to share? What size was yours?

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. rsaun-good luck on your purse cake. A couple of tips for you: a ruler was used to make the lines; the cake was made out of two 10" round cakes. Cut off part of the bottom to make the base. Use stiff buttercream to stick them together. 3 skewers on each side all the way down into the base to make it secure. Not much else. Good luck!
