The cream cheese wasn't perfect, but I put the frosted cake back in the fridge for a bit and use a warm spatula to smooth it the best I can. The golf cake in my gallery is cc too...

The idea behind the vodka is that alcohol evaporates quickly and acts something like a paint thinner. I suppose water is fine, but I couldn't speak to its effectiveness. I enlarged the picture to scale to the cake size and cut it into pieces to use as templates when cutting the fondant. I cut it all up maybe a day or two ahead of time, but make sure the pieces together as you'd like them to so they don't dry out of shape and leave you with gaps in the end. Hope it helps! Good luck!
Both are food color, the hair is brown and the shoes are black. I don't know you accessibility to a craft store, but they'll have it (if I am understanding your question correctly). For both the head and legs, color your fondant flesh toned and then just freehand paint the shoes and hair.
I've always seem to have a problem working with cream cheese to get it smooth looking but yours look good!!!

Is this a whole cut out, or pieces and then put together, Did you buy the colored fondant? I'm making this for my niece's baby shower, soon...
It is pieces then put together...I colored most of the fondant myself, but then painted on some of the features like the hair and shoes
What did you use to paint the hair and shoes?
Food color thinned with a drop or two vodka...walmart has some cheap brushes and 50 cent paint trays that are helpful.
Is there anything besides vodka that I can use? Did you make the cut out pieces the same day ?

One last question, for the hair and shoes, what did you use to get black?

Gotcha, Thanks
