Daisy Fields

Daisy Fields on Cake Central

This is my favorite cake yet! I was thinking about doing a cake covered in daisies and it's all I had hoped it would be. It took a long time to make the daisies - my sister and I sat at the kitchen table with coffee and rolled fondant for hours!

This is a three layer cake (french vanilla, pistachio, french vanilla) with peppermint buttercream icing and rolled fondant (daisies).

Thanks for looking!

Thank you so much for all the kind words. The daisies were made by hand - I rolled a small ball of fondant (about 1/4 inch), tapered it at one end (to make a cone) and flattened it into a petal. Then I took a toothpick and marked a line from the centre of the petal up about 1/4 inch and folded it at that line when I put it on the cake. Each daisy has eight petals, all made individually. The centres were then pressed in to raise the petals a bit. Hope this makes sense!

This is beautiful, as are all of your others. I looked through them all and what makes them extra great is the way they are photographed! So fabulous! What kind of software do you use? I read that you are into photography also...I'm curious.

Thanks again for all the compliments! No wonder I love making cakes! ;0). Ironbaker - I use Digital Image Pro Suite 10 and have a Canon Rebel XT DSLR. I have to say I love photography and digital design as much as I do cakes.... Thanks again!

Absolutely awesome!!! I'm a huge fan of daisies! :D It's cool how you assembled the daisies so they pop up around the centers. Looks realistic that way!
