I just laid out my cupcakes in the pattern of 4, 5 6, 7, 6, 5, 4 and stuck a little frosting to the bottom of each to get them to stay put. I just iced them like a regular cake. You need to be sure they are as close together as they can get and I used a fairly medium-stiff icing to frost the top. This is only my 2nd one but am envisioning more for the upcoming holidays ;)

This looks great. I have only done the cupcake thing once and my icing fell between the cupcakes. What is your technique?
