Crooked Topsy Turvycake

Crooked Topsy Turvycake on Cake Central

My neice asked me for a crooked cake for her graduation - she likes things out of the ordinary and this is what I came up with. The cakes were iced with buttercream and then I cut out the shape from fondant and placed them on the cakes. They were seperated by styrofoam cut on angles and then I used curled ribbon to hide that. It was a big hit. You could use this design for basically any occassion.

That's awesome! Did you find it easier to do each cake on a thick cake board like that? Why don't the tiers slide if they aren't imbedded into one another?

The top is a piece of floral foam I carved and then covered in fondant - she wanted to keep the top. I did put 1 dowel through the whole cake to keep if from sliding once I set it up. Actually the cake boards are only 2 thin cake boards each. I put a band of ribbon around them to hide them. The ribbon is thicker than the boards. Cool huh? Thanks for the compliments.
