I made this cake as my final project in a Wilton III class I recently took at Michael's. We could make anything we wanted as long as it was two tier. The idea comes from the American Cake Decorating magazine. It was my first time working with fondant. I had a lot of fun doing this. The idea for the realistic limes come from a polymer clay book.

Gorgeous cake!! did you make your limes out of sugar?? I'm looking for a sugar candy recipe and can not find one. I want to make things like fruits, animals out of sugar not gumpaste. I don't know if I'm explaining myself correctly. If you made it out of sugar , would you mind sharing the recipes??

thanks, i made the limes out of fondant using 6 green rolls of fondant, cover each green roll with white, then shaped each roll into a pyramid, squeezed each pyramid shaped roll together to make one big roll, then covered the big roll in green. then i let it dry overnight and sliced it just like a regular lime. Not sure those were the best instructions but you can find instructions also in "Fast Polymer Clay" by Sue Heaser
