Mason's Dinosaur

Sculpted from four layers of cake (Sylvia's Red Velvet in cc recipes). Legs and tongue are gumpaste. Covered in Satin Ice, tail is fondant. Really fun to make, very time consuming! My son love, love, LOVED it! Based on CP design in Cakes to Dream On.

this is fabulous! I am very impressed. I have a nephew who would love this (not that I have any hope that mine would look anywhere near as nice as yours LOL!) BUt, any hints on the sixe cakes you used for the body and head would be really (...) Thanks!!

Thanks everyone! kcat - the actual cake is two 9x13 cut in half down the length so you get cakes measuring 4 1/2x13 each, then stacked. By the time the head is all carved out is probably a little over 2 layers high. The cake part ends in the middle of the uppermost large green stripe of the tail. The rest of the tail is fondant. I would have had to bake another layer of cake to make the tail cake as well.
