Fairytale Castle

Fairytale Castle on Cake Central

I did this yesterday for my niece. I think she loved it! It was very easy, (surprisingly). White cake, with butter cream icing. I used fondant for the door and to wrap the tubes.

I need to make this cake, it's just perfect!! How did you get the "brick" effect on the bottom layer? Also, what are the "notches, or boarder" fence type gates at the tops of the cake made out of? Is the cobblestone walkway fondant too? This castle is just beautiful!!!! You did such a great job!!! Thanks in advance for all the tips you can give me!

The borders on the tops are fondant. The cobblestones are fondant brushed with gray luster dust. The brickwork was done with a lot of patients! I used ruler and knife to imprint all of it into the buttercream!

Pan sizes are 10 in. square and 6 in. round. The towers are made of heavy rolled card stock and covered with fondant. I dropped a cake cone in the top before the fondant was wrapped around it. It makes it more realistic looking I think.
