This cake is iced smooth with chocolate buttercream. Decorations are done with brightly colored buttercream.

Thanks! I use corn syrup in my buttercream (regular and chocolate) 1/4 cup to a 6 cup batch. Then, once I have iced and allowed the icing to crust over, I smooth it with parchment paper and my hand.
