Thanks for all the nice comments and thanks Karentje, I was too tired to go find my book and couldn't remember her name, . But yes it is from Peggy's Romantic Cakes book. Not sure if it is available yet in the US, I had DH pick it up when he went to the UK, it has some great cakes!!
I think it was 270 roses for the darker color and 30 or so for the lighter. I was very unimpressed with the directions in the book. Using their dimensions the little roses looked ridiculous, so just experiment with it is my suggestion and it did take a while!!
lots of food coloring, it did change the texture of the fondant, hence the wrinkles. I found out later that more kneading seemed to help that, oh well another lesson learned!!
