Thanksgiving Turkey

Thanksgiving Turkey on Cake Central

I know we've seen some really good turkeys on this site, so I thought I would try one for our Thanksgiving dinner - Carrot cake with BC and filled with creamcheese frosting. Thought I would present it in a roasting pan. Tried to get that realistic look... It didn't turn out too bad I guess.

Thanks, my husband said I even got the creases in just like when a turkey is cooked. vronelly it's all sprayed on, a combination of black and orange. I tried coloring a little of the BC brown, but didn't like the effect.

I would have to say of all the roasted turkey cakes I have seen, yours is the most realistic. You did great! The top of that drumstick looks like the meat is ready to fall off the bone.

BEAUTIFUL job!!! May I suggest that you do a tutorial to put on the CC site?? That way, everyone can see it! :)

For the body I used a 9x11 rectangle pan and the football pan. Ice together the rectangle on the bottom and football on top and cut around rectangle to shape the turkey body. (The scraps can be used for stuffing). For the legs I used the mini wondermold pan. I Iced two pieces together and cut side of it fit against the turkey body using dowel to keep in place. For the skinny part of the drumstick, use ice cream cones (the pointed ones) and ice it and attach to leg. You can stick dowel in leg part and

cont'd place cone over top of dowel to hold it up. I used BC for it all. Iced it all white and airbrushed it with brown, orange and bit of yellow until I got the effect I wanted.

sorry for those requesting instructions in November, haven't checked my photos in a bit. Should be some way to get notified if someone comments on cake.
