My Mom's Birthday Cake
Wanted to practice a smooth buttercream..Boy is it hard. My mom's birthday tomorrow, so worked on smooth buttercream (not so successful), chocolated seashells, with pearlized dust and stacking.

You did great - did you use the Viva paper towel method? It works well for me.
No, I wanted to practice using the spatula only, so I used a pan of hot water, and dipped the spatula in it every time to make it smooth. It worked ok, but I still think that I will be able to to better with more practice. Maybe a better buttercream recipe??
