This cake was for my MIL. it was chocolate cake filled with chocolate pudding and covered in ganache. I had never tried pudding as a filling, she said her mom used to make her cakes like this when she was young. it was pretty good. The swirls and such are powdered sugar glaze painted with gold luster dust and then there are dragees all over, maybe a few too many and then the top is the outrageuosly expensive wilton bow. won't be buying that again! thought it was 6.99, it was actually 16.99!
I have to a bow for a wedding next weekend, 3 tiers stacked, square, ivory with chocolate fondant bow. We'll see how well I do on the bow.
It looks great and sounds delicious....the Wilton Bow here is $36.99, so $16.99 is cheaper - I didn't even know they sold fondant bows til I saw it at Michaels. I wouldn't purchase one at that price.
wow! That is an expensive bow - have you tried making one though? It wasn't easy for me! I think you did a great job on the cake - looks yummy!
36.99?!? Wow... one note.. they are actually not fondant bows, I thought it was til I got home. It's paper clay? no idea what that is. it took 5 coats of luster dust and a half a bottle of lemon extract to color it. I think I'll just give up on bows from now on because I'm certain I can't make one myself!
