Flip Flops

Flip Flops on Cake Central

This cake was for a "couples" shower. The couple were to be married on the beach so the hostess wanted a palm tree, marguarita or something. The cake is covered with buttercream; the straps and flowers are fondant. Even though the straps were allowed to dry for 3-4 days ahead of decorating, one broke and I "glued" it together with vanilla which worked OK. The next time I will make the straps thinner. I smoothed the tops of the flip with a textures paper towel which made them look more realistic.

Awesome job! I made 2 flip flop cakes too and yours is different! I love the straps too.P.S. How did you make & what's the flower made of that is on end of the straps?

Susan, most flowers were fondant cut using the wilton cutter for the rose in different sizes. The small ones are using a cutter and press (holds 5 flowers) that I keep on hand all the time.
