Doctor Cakes

I did these last month for my brother's Med. School Graduation. One chocolate with CBC and one white with white BD. Cake design/decorations are fondant except for the name tags. Other tools are gum paste. These were fun to do but very unnerving! First time doing a cake for someone else's event. They were a hit! Thanks for all the ideas on here!!

You did a wonderful job! Would you mind if I borrow this idea? I work for surgeons and my nephew is in med school.

Copy away! Thanks for the compliment! There is one I looked at on here that was white on white. My sister-in-law picked the shirt/tie colors. :)

How cool is that. Going into my favorites.Have to keep this one in mind when my daughters' boyfriend graduates from med school.

Ok, I have to admit the name tags I printed off on my computer so they were not edible. Though, for the next ones (this August) they will be. And the BP gauge is gumpaste, the markings on the dial were with edible marker. HTH :)

death_by_frosting... the collars, actually I practiced first with my kids playdough  The "trick" is to make a long rectangle and make it kind of thick then fold in half down the length. When you stand it up spread the open edge just a bit at the back of the neck and fold the inner edge toward the shirt (like giving it feet). If it needs support not to fall in just put some tissue paper there until it is set! :D HTH!
