Beach Baby
I made for one of my bosses who is a guy. He and his wife went on vacation in HI about 8 months ago and miraculously turned up pregnant shortly after!! ;o) Anyway, they live right on the beach of Lake Michigan and he has said that the baby will love the beach as much as he does so......this is what I decided upon. All the decorations are fondant/gumpaste. The cake itself is pina colada cake with toasted coconut sprinkled between the layers. Frosted with buttercreme made with coconut milk. Thanks!!
sorry, forgot to mention that I found LOTS of inspiration for this in CC galleries. I can't name everybody but thank you all for your inspiration. I love this site!
just adorable.. great job..
I like the waves crashing on the edges- what a cute idea!
Very Cute. I love the story behind it too!
Great idea. Very well done too :)
love the palm tree-how'd ya do it?
thanks GIAcakes! I made the leaves with a regular old leaf cutter and then just snipped the edges and stretched it out a bit. Then I wrapped the very bottom of the leaf tip around a wire and let them dry on the flower former. The "trunk" of the tree is just brown fondant wrapped around a straw with a bit sticking out the bottom to put in the cake. Then I just put the leaves in the hole on the top of the straw trunk and spread them out until it was full enough. Hope this helps! Thank you for looki...
Adorable ! I especially love the sunglasses on the baby !!!
