Cake for church Luau party. Sheet cake on bottom w/ 8 and 6 inch rounds. Sheet cake was banana w/ banana cream filling, middle layer was a dark chocolate fudge with ganache filling and top layer was white vanilla buttercream between layers. All was done with BC, including palm tree fronds. Did not have a good cake board underneath and got minor cracks in the icing when the cake got moved. Lesson learned there!!

I love this cake!!! I'm doing a midnight luau/beach theme for my 16 yr old sister's birthday next month. Any advice on the hibiscus? I was going to order royal icing hibiscus online but yours are beautiful. I would love to know how you made them. Also plan to do something similar wth the palms trees, to get the leaves to stand out that way, did you use stiff buttercream? I wanted to do that but was afraid they would droop over time.

Thank you very much! I made the flowers using stiff buttercream and a 2D tip. They are nothing more than big drop flowers. I used a #2 tip to pipe the middles w/ yellow. I used a tip 366 for the bigger leaves around the flowers. I used a #70 tip (I opened the end a little more than how it was originally) to pipe the palm fronds. I used the backside of the plastic flower forms out of Wiltons Class 2 kit to pipe out long leaves. I let them dry for 3 days. I attached them to the cake with more BC.
