From This Day Forward...
One of these gentlemen is from Scotland and the other is from Finland, hence the flags to represent their countries. I used butterfly, horseshoe, heart and flower embossers on the pasted boards and dusted each with a pastel powder before going over the whole board with snowflake lustre dust. I then crushed some Magic Sparkles into a fine glitter and painted each embossed shape with a little glue then sprinkled the sparkles onto them. With a diamante rhinestone chain to trim each cake, it sparkled!
I'm whith everyone else on this one. I like how you decorate your boards, making them a part of the design. Do you cover them before or after you put the cake on? It looks like you make four strips?
It depends on the cake I'm doing. Most of the wedding cakes I paste after the cake is on the board because I like to make a thicker border than if I was covering the whole board. The cakes are on separate boards too to give them height so I like to make the borders look deep. Just my own preference, not a golden rule.
you do very wonderful work. You must enjoy going to work everyday and being able to be so creative. Congrats!
"going to work" for me involves a walk downstairs...my house is above my studio and they both connect so I don't have far to travel! Thankyou for your appreciation of my work.
I love the sparkly fondant, and the embossing on your board. You have great color balance on all your creations.
THIS CAKE IS BREATHETAKING!!!
YOU HAVE AMAZING TALENT...JUST AWESOME TO LOOK AT...
Great job!
One word, AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
That is fantastic. How do you make your figures?
WOW!! i love the addition of the sparkly chain, great touch!!
That is truly a beautiful cake.
This is really cute. How in the world did you make the kilts? Please share.
The kilts are made by colouring the paste with the dominant background colour of the tartan and then I draw the lines on with edible pens. I paint the white lines on with powder colour and alcohol with a very small paintbrush. I cut the paste into a rectangle and hold it over the area to be covered and with sharp little scissors I trim away what I don't need and tuck the edges under for neatness, gluing in place as I go along.
WOW - beautiful designing & figures
absolutely adorable!
This is the most precious and precise figures/cake! A wee bit o' excellence!
