2007 Washington Sugar Artist Competition
This was my very first entry into a cake show. I was so proud of it! Even though I didn't win, I liked the cake and was sooo glad I went to the show (besides I was able to meet Bronwyn Webber as well - too cool!) The cake was a dummy. It was covered in mmf with sprayed on food coloring and hand painted background. The cactus around the edge were gumpaste and the ones used as seperators were balls covered with fondant with r.i. spines. The tumble weed was my favorite - it was spun sugar!
I don't think I've ever seen a cake like this. It is magnificent!! I love the colors.

The cacti seperators are ingenious! I love that idea. The entire cake is lovely!
