Thanks everyone. I have a little trick I use to do lettering, since I'm terrible at doing it freehand. Using my computer, I print out the words exactly as I want them to appear on the cake. Then I take a pin and punch holes in the letters to make my own custom impression mat. Lay the paper on the cake and rub gently with a fondant smoother. This gives you a template to follow for your lettering.
