thanks, for the palm trees I followed cakeunleashed method when I browsed the forum. I put some gumpaste on a lollipop stick then cut little triangles and place them around gumpaste. Let dry, then painted with watered down gel color. For the leave I just cut them out free hand, placed over a former to dry then used green candy melts to hold in place. I tried RI but it was taking to long to dry and look awful. HTH

Very nice trees! I tried making palm trees, but they were awful! Yours are very well done. How did you make the trunk of the tree? How did you stick the leaves on top of the tree? I attached mine with royal icing, but they got broken and fell off! :o

the palm trees are gumpaste wrapped around a lollipop stick, then little triangles to give texture, the leaves are hand cut and dried overnight before putting together. This was a technique I found on here by CakeUnleashed.

Are the flowers gumpaste as well, if so, how did you make them and where did you find the instructions for the palm trees? They look great!!

I found the instructions partly from here by CakeUnleashed and the flowers are fondant. I used a 5 petal rose cutter and shaped in a small domed cup (the little wine glass favors by wilton) to shape and then added a small stamen in the center.

You did an awesome job on this cake. Your flowers are beautiful & the palm trees are so good. It is now in my favs.

The palm trees have the perfect texture with the triangles. I wish I could see your flamingos close up, are they gum paste also?

I don't know what is wrong with the people on cake central, but this cake should never needed to be put in an "undernoticed thread"! Beautiful job! :D
