There was no filling in this one, wanted it sturdy...this one would probably be about $75-$80 because of all the work.

Thanks! I have to admit I got the idea from another site but I had to figure out how to put it together myself as it was a UK store.

which wilton wonder mold did you use? I'm trying to attempt this for my son's 2nd birthday - he absolutely loves donkeys!!!!!

i've gone onto the wilton cake site and did a search for the mold - they have a wonder mold kit...is that what you used? If I could be so bold as to ask how you sculpted the molds and put them together???

Yes the Wilton wonder mold...I cut about 1/4-1/3 off of one to use as the head...then I just cut a little slice off the second one and put the two cut sides together with icing, cut a bit more off the sides to make it more "body shaped" and filled in a few gaps with icing to make it all smooth. Then covered with fondant. The head is covered as well and then attached using dowels. HTH! :-)

Wowie! Kitagrl, where are you at that you can get away with $75-$80 for this??? No way I could get someone to pay that much around here! Great job!

I just cut part of the wonder mold off. I did this several years ago and would probably carve it by hand if I were to do it again, and probably use a rice krispy head. Also I live in Philly area...high cost of living. :-)
