Wedding Cake By Steady2Hands
I made this cake for my husband's cousin. It was my third wedding cake. It is a yellow cake with buttercream icing. The flowers were made by a florist. When the bride first showed me the picture I was worried about getting the cake as smooth as the picture but thanks to the "paper towel" method, I was happy with the outcome.
So elegant and smooth! You did a great job with the icing!
Great looking cake!
Steady hands is right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so smooth!!!!!!!!!!!! It looks like fondant! OH MY this is unbelievably perfect!!!!!
VERY nice job. Congratulations.
Beautiful cake! You did a GREAT job getting the icing smooth! I have my first wedding cake on the 22nd and am soooo nervous! It would have to be quare tiers! Those corners drive me nuts!
Your BC looks great and your cake is a beauty! Wonderful work!
Thanks you all!!!! A trick I've found to smooth Buttercream is to use the fondant smoother with the paper towel rather than my hand. I call the fondant smoother my cake iron since it resembles an iron.
Beautiful!
Thanks so much! I will do one test cake.
Beautiful cake!
This is the exact look that I have been trying to achieve with the paper towel method. Did you use the easy glide fondant smoother only? How did you smooth the edges? I have a wedding cake to do on the 22nd & want this effect!
Leisa97~A few minutes after icing is on the cake (not too long) test a small area by laying Viva paper towel on icing and gently rub it with your hand. Immediately remove paper towel. If it pulls icing - it's not ready, if it doesn't - it's ready. When ready, lay p/t on cake and start "ironing" it with the Easy-Glide Fondant Smoother. Start on top. When working on the sides, gently pull paper towel up and barely over edge and start smoothing it. When edge is done, straighten the sides. Good luck!
