7-1-06 Wedding Cake
This wedding was yesterday. It was champagne cake. The reception was at 6:00. I got to the reception hall at 2:30. Nobody around and the doors were all locked! It was 96 degrees here yesterday! I had visions of the cake melting in the trunk of my car! I called the number on the back door and was told no one was to be there until 3:30! He was kind enough to drive downtown and let me in. I'll never do a square cake again! Stupid corners! Bride & groom were happy, but I was not.
I hear you on that, corners can take for ever, yet this is lovely. we are so hard on ourselves and yet we try again, it says something about us Bakers. I guess we like the torture. Lol
For the stand, I used 4 glass blocks with a large piece of round tempered glass on top of them. Then I unwound a spool of tulling and entertwined it with white frosted lights. Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. When I agree to do a cake (months in advance), it's no big deal. Then the day of the reception I am a basket case and I ask myself why, why why did I ever agree to do this???
This is very nice and your corners look fine. I have a square pan but have yet to use the thing. Guess I'm working my way up to it. LOL, which translates into "chicken".
Don't worry I am the same way. Am I realy a cake decorator? I aways ask myself. I agree with those corners at one point I was going to ask in the forum do you charge more for square cakes becuase of the corners or is that unfair. But anyway your cake is great!
It's very pretty. I really like the supports you used. Very unique. Great job.
Very pretty presentation
very creative. What did u use for the stand?
Nice job...excellent presentation...We are our worst critics the cake looks perfect!!
...lol....thats funny...'stupid corners'....I think it looks great!!!!
I love the stand what a clever and scarey idea. R u one of those that gets "a look" and then comes up with a fabulous idea??? I work with an event planner/desinger and it's scarey at times. I love the look
This is ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL! I truly LOVE your idea of the stand. This goes into my favorites for sure. I'd love to use your stand idea sometime if you wouldn't mind. I LOVE IT!!!!
