Ballerina Birthday

Ballerina Birthday on Cake Central

This was for a 9-year-old girly-girl ballet dancer. It's not my favorite cake, I can see many flaws, but the grandmother (who ordered it) called today and told me the birthday girl squealed and screamed and jumped up and down when she saw it! She has saved the ballet shoes from the top (that's supposed to be a little stage they're pirouetting on -- with the curtain pulled back and her name 'in lights'). She has also saved the ballet shoes, the pearls holding back the curtains and the roses, as keepsakes.

This is wonderful! You did a great job! I am seeing this with a pretty tiara for my grandaughters 5th b-day in October. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!

Thank you, all. I also hear that there is only one tiny slice left, so evidently it tasted good, too! I was a little concerned about the slightly crusty edges on the top of the hex-shaped cake ... but evidently the BC covered with fondant thing did it's trick of keeping it all most and delicious. I crumb-coated and iced on Thursday. Fondant-covered and decorated Friday. Delivered Saturday. All was well. Just in case anyone is wondering about timing ...

I thought I was hard on myself but you take the cake! It's freaking professionally perfect and the type of cake I can stare at for inspiration. Thanks for the idea for my nieces upcomgin bday.

Thank you, feme27. I DO take the cake on self-flaggelation, don't I? Yeesh. I need to stop that nonsense.
