Flower Cut Into Fondant

Flower Cut Into Fondant on Cake Central

I found a picture of a cake with instructions on how to do it in the ACM and I can't remember who's it was, but it was from a book he had written. I decided to try it. Its a chocolate cake with strawberry filling. My friend drew the picture and painted it with powdered colors. It turned out pretty good, its defiently not like the one in the magazine, but our own interpertation of it. I filled it to full and it bugled real bad, but tasted real good.

You did a BEAUTIFUL job! I also saw that cake in ACD but my skills are no where close enough to try that!

Very nice...I'd like to try that...so you "cut" the flower and leaves out after covering the cake and then hand painted it? Please explain the technique a bit more

flourgirl, yep we did it just like any other fondant covered, with buttercream first, then fondant, then we drew the picture on with the food color markers, then took an exacto knife and cut a thin layer of the fondant and kind of flared it up, then brushed on the colors. it took about 2 hours to cut and paint the enitre cake. It was so much fun, and it has a great look.
