Great job and what a fantastic idea for the rainbow cake layers!! I wanted to thank you for posting where you got the ponies! I ran to Target tonight and found them. My luck they were on clearance for 98 cents.. so if anyone else needs them I would get there asap! Thanks again, my soon to be 4 yr old is going to be thrilled when those are on her pony cake!
I just put white BC in a piping bag with a large round tip and did big "puffs" next to each other and overlapping each other. I tried not to make them all the same size so they looked more realistic. I dusted them with colored sugar, but that didn't really give me the "sparkly" effect I was going for. Thanks!

nice, i like the colors
They were at Target, but not with the other MLP stuff. They were labeled as "Party Favors" and they came with a jar of Play-Doh. They were $2 a piece.

Very cute! I too was wondering how you made the rainbow...
I love this cake! Where did you get the little ponies, we only have bigger ones?
The ponies are actually little stampers that come with a jar of Play-doh. I've gotten them at Target and also at Toys 'R Us.
I made the rainbow out of thinned down royal icing (color flow). I made about 5 of them just in case they'd break!
