Camouflage Cake

Camouflage Cake on Cake Central

8" square all BC icing. Was fun and easy to do but next time I will work harder to not have so many squiggly lines. The #12 tip gave a smooth finish......if only I have more #12s. :( Will know for next time.

Thanks everyone. I have to thank cakesbyallison for the inspiration from her cake. Her cake is soooooo smooth. She suggested tip12 and I agree that tip 12 does better and is easier to smooth with a viva paper towel. MsMitchell - I just filled three bags with brown, light green and dark green. The black is Wilton Black icing in the tube (I hate making black icing). Just squeezed random pattered on to already thinly iced cake in white icing. Also use thin consistency icing, smooth w/viva paper towel.

Thank you! I iced it in a think white layer for two reasons. I wanted to write on white and wanted it to look 3D - like the camo was laying on the cake & second I wanted to make sure the camo icing had something to "stick" too and I wanted a smooth/level surface to apply the camo too. As far as the paper towel method - my tips are: do not get in a hurry - Give the icing enough time to dry & use a Wilton's Fondant Smoother instead of hand and don't be afraid to apply pressure. I will email u 2. :)

Thanks! Wow, I cannot remember the colors exactly as I have not had to make another camo cake since this one. I want to say I use the leaf green and added lots of green with some brown and the lighter green I also use the leaf green and added some yellow. If I had to do it again that is probably where I would start. HTH.
