Thanks, all. Sure, I'll share my secrets. The shoe was inspired and guided by "socake" -- she posted a picture back in March of the most incredible shoe. Anyway, I drew my pattern from one of my daughter's shoes. Waited 3 days for the sole to dry! Then couldn't figure out how to get the toe to look right, so wrote to "socake" and she kindly shared her tutorial with me. My shoe isn't nearly as glamorous, gorgeous and perfect as hers, and it's hardly true to scale. No human could actually w...
(con't)... wear that shoe, the way it's configured! Anyway, the purse is a 9x13 cut into thirds, iced with buttercream and covered with fondant. Wanted to do a brandname purse of some kind, but didn't think my skills were up to it, so just did a generic purse that went with the (very slumped) shape of the cake. The cake slumped from rampant humidity, heat and rain here. I had to take it apart and do it over, while keeping it in the fridge in between fondant layers! Oh well.
Thanks, she was thrilled. Wants to keep the shoe forever. I need to find one of those clear acrylic shoe boxes to store it in. And no one knows yet that those pink ribbons were added at the last minute to cover up the crack in the white fondant of the sole of the shoe!
