Black Lab

Black Lab on Cake Central

This is my NIGHTMARE cake, everything I did went wrong with this cake! I wasn't going to take it, and I was going to throw it into the trash, my husband wouldn't let me. I don't think Iam going to charge them for it!

This cake is so good is scared me! Great Job. I have a labradoodle that looks just like this. And the ears are very flat to the head. Wonderful Cake!

Its a great cake! One of those "after thought" suggestions: the face could be peering thru parted green Cattails, and place one dowel under the chin (covered in cattail) to help support and lift the muzzle? I think that cake shows a LOT of work, way to go!

Are you kidding?? 8O That cake is wonderful. So detailed and well, your work always leaves me speechless. Except for the requisite "WOW" :D

Okay.. now I know it's true. The better you are the more critical of your own cakes you become! That cake looks excellent to me boween. What went so wrong?

As it's a black lab, I'm sure the details are harder to see in the photo, than in person. I think it's a wonderful cake & you did a good job!! If you really don't feel it was your best work, maybe see what their reaction is first? I would definitely charge them! They will LOVE IT! You have to remember too, that you're more picky about your work, and most people are in awe that you're able to do what you do with cake! =) I'd love to know HOW you formed it!

um, you must be joking....right?? :) I think you did a great job!! Not sure what it is exactly you don't like about it.....but from the photo everything looks good! I hope you change your mind and still charge them for it though....looks like ALOT of hard work!

Boween!!!! That cake is beautiful!!! You are way too critical of yourself. I bet they went nuts when they saw it. Your skills are amazing and I am constantly in awe of how many cakes you can do in a week.

Please share the structural nature of the cake! What was the support for the nose? Is the nose cake or some other edible material? Your cakes are beautiful.

The neck is a cake made in the wondermold pan, trimmed. The nose is rice crispies, and styrofoam on the bottom. My husband and I would do a few things differently, the nose was tooo long and sharpe, definately square that off, the coat is combed due to the styrofoam wrapped in foil, and the rice crispies. Next time I would ice smooth. and I tried a million times to get the ears to stand up more, they just kept going flat. I have fondant under them but I think it geled into the buttercream.
