Treasure Chest Cake

Treasure Chest Cake on Cake Central

My husband and I collaborated on this one; everything is edible. Gold coins, edible pearls and dragees, chocolate shells, edible sand, and rock candy. This was in a 3 part cake series for a kid graduating from high school who loves pirate stuff. I'll upload the other cakes as well which have the same theme.

I wish I could put all your pics in my fav. album! Anyway, I clicked on your name, got to your profiles page so I could view all your cakes, and there I found that you have a website. I checked it out and was so amazed that I put it in my Internet Explorer "Favorites" page.

Thank-you! It took us from 8 am til 1 pm to do this cake, but that is with all the prep done the night before (icing, sand, chocolate shells, etc). It wasn't hard, in all honesty....fondant strips painted to look like old wood. The cake is a quarter sheet cut into halves, and stacked 2 layers high for the chest, and one layer high for the lid. The hard part was doing all the little nails, etc, and brushing the luster dust to make it look weathered.

You and your hubby make a great team! Great job on all the cakes they look awsome! I wish my husband and I shared the cake decorating interest instead he is into video games.
