Going Away Party Cookies
I made these for a co-worker who is leaving Kansas to go back home to New Zealand. They are shortbread with royal icing. The tray is covered with fondant.

Thanks for the compliments! For each cookie, I piped thinned lemon yellow royal icing along the outer edge of the petals and then piped a dollop of gold in the center. I then used a paintbrush to even it out and draw a little of the gold into each petal. After it was dry, I piped a brown center and then used a paintbrush and brown Americolor thinned with some water to outline the petal shapes and some strokes radiating from the center.
The flowers are masterful, and, the presentation is perfect. I'm sure they were much appreciated.
