3D Shark

3D Shark on Cake Central

Thanks to Cake Corner for sharing some hints with me for this cake! Although I totally messed up and was not even able to build a stand as instructed, so this cake is luckily staying home for my son because it does not have any inner support to travel with except the board inside the shark. I also broke a few of my own "all edible" rules by making the lower jaw of styrofoam and the fin of paper plate. My son will like it, that is what counts!

I don't have reliable instructions for this one and I don't think the lady I got it from wants it to go to everyone... I used an egg pan though on a board, and styrofoam glued underneath for the mouth, and didn't make enough cake so used cake donuts for the rest of the body.

Well the lady from Cake Corner has one that is even cooler, and she sent me a tutorial on how to build a stand because the lower jaw is styrofoam and the upper part is cake on a shaped board and then you screw a wide dowel between the bottom board and shark support board. But it didn't work that way, I cheated and bought an oval premade board and didn't make enough cake so the body behind the egg pan head is actually cake donuts cut and pieced together. So you see it needs some improvements.

WOW! This is awesome. This is perfect for my nephews shark party. What is an egg pan? Can you explain a little more about about the board, like the size and shape and where to get one? I really want to try this but I don't get the construction. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The 3D egg pan is by Wilton, you can find it on Ebay if nowhere else... and you just have to screw a dowel into your baseboard and then put a slanted piece of oval board on top in order to support the cake of the shark so he looks like his mouth is open.

The cake is so awesome and I would love to make one for my 9 year old grand daughter as she is so fascinated with sharks. From what I see this post is a few years old but if you have the instructions I would love it if you could share [email protected]

Thanks ever so much
