Spongeberry Doradumpling

Spongeberry Doradumpling on Cake Central

This was one of my first topsy turvy cakes so my fondant work was not that great, but this is still one of my favorite cakes of all times. I called it Spongeberry Dorradumpling. It was for my daughters third birthday she is now about to turn 6where does the time go. She couldn't decide between Spongebob, Dora and Strawberry Shortcake or Apple Dumpling. So I gave them all to her. The Strawberry Shortcake and Apple Dumpling figurines were mine from 27 years ago.

This is such a cute cake! I just love all of the colors and characters. I might have to try this one day! Great job!

I really wanted to try and see if it would work - multiple themes on one cake. I saw one cake on this iste that had a fbct of dora and strawberry shortcake - and thought, yes you can. This was just our family cake, so if it turned out awful I wasn't too worried. Her party is not till next weekend and we have a luau theme. So this was strictly just for her. Thanks all.

That is too awesome for words! I was floored seeing the Strawberry Shortcake dolls cause i too have those from a "few" years ago! That is so cool!!!

I just wish that the Strawberry Shortcake toys of today would compair to the toys of "our" day. I was looking for new ones to put on this cake and some of them just looked scarry. Ahh, those were the days.

Brilliant! I love that you went for it! And the cake itself it terrific! Makes me sad, though, that the "new" Strawberry Shortcake characters & toys aren't nearly as cute as they were when we were kids!

Thanks all for the comments. She was very thrilled with it. Our alternative title was Spongedumpling Dorabob....lol..

Wow! Sounds like my soon to be 4 year old - she changes her mind virtually everyday as to what she wants the theme of her cake to be - might have to take a leaf out of your book and give her the lot!

This is so appropriate for kids of cake decorators. My daughter sees so many cakes she likes that her birthday theme changes everyday. You're genius for combining them all!

Thanks atkin600 - and your right - I bet most kids figure out what they want and say I want "x" by my kids are looking at cakes on cc dailiy and say I want "x", i want "y" and I want "z"! ah, the life of a cake decorators kid!

So Cute!!!1 My soon to be 3 yr old has changed his mind so many times as well. It's been, tractors, spiderman, soccer, and diego. I keep saying Im gonna make him a sheet cake of Spiderman riding a john deere tractor kicking a soccer ball with diego as the goalie. LOL now seeing this I just might do it.

LOL! My son thinks his cake is going to be "Spider Man under the sea" for his 6th this Tuesday. Your cake is so creative. I love the idea of incorporating all of her favorites.
