My dad needed a cake and he had been teasing me about how my cakes never look like plain old "bakery" cakes. This is as close as I could get. It was so boring to make after seeing what is possible on CC.

That is hilarious! The flowers are very good. Though you should have thrown on some large sprinkles or curly ribbon like they do and really made it like a "bakery" cake. Love it. :) :) :P ;-D
A very classy looking cake! Nice color choice and not too busy! Very smooth BC surface! I don't think it's boring, just a more "standard" look to the design! Your borders are great!
