Belly Cake

Belly Cake on Cake Central

Thank you ellyrae first off. Your creation was the inspiration for this. Sorry I'm such a copy cat., but your cake was really awesome. I wanted a fun but still a little elegance for my sister in laws shower. And I think this really did both. The cake is strawberry with butter cream icing. The roses are royal icing and the belly is covered with fondant.

I used cupcakes for the boobs! The bc is from Wilton. I use 1 stick unsalted butter and 1/2 cup shortening when I am making icing I'm planning on coloring. The flavor is so much better. I use all shortening if a pure white is needed.

No problem! I made some cupcakes this evening. Found the recipe in a magazine. They are butter flavored cake, strawberry icing with a surprise of strawberry jam in the center. Pretty good! I'll post the picture tomorrow.

Well, Thank you! I use Wilton fondant, out of the box! The belly is a half from the Wilton 3D egg pan set.

I would love to find out what bc recipe you used to frost the cake with and make the dots. I am about to make my first cake order and I am still quite new at cake decorating. More into cookies right now. I need to make a sheet cake in strawberry with bc or cream cheese icing that I can make dots, shells, or stars with also.

When doing the dress, I am assuming you just rolled it out and did you make a template of a dress. I wouldlike to do this but just wanted a little help with that part. You did such a beautiful job!

I didn't use a template. I got it just right on the 2nd try! First dress was too big, so I just lifted it back off and retried.
