Birthday Cake In Fondant

Birthday Cake In Fondant on Cake Central

Fondant covered cake in pettinice (pretty tasty). These were my first roses and leaves from the Wilton Course 3. Writing done in mostly piping gel with a little BC added to make it solid color. This is where I fell in love with Luster Dust (I dry dusted the roses with orchid pink.) Ribbon around bottom edge.

Your cake and flowers look flawless! Wonderful job on the roses. So lifelike. I have no clue why your lettering turned color on you. I can imaging how that made you feel.

Don't know why your color changed on you, but when I want to opaque piping gel, I mix in a little powdered sugar. Maybe other stuff in the BC (not present in the sugar by itself) reacted with the gel. Weird. Truly weird.
