Zen Garden

Zen Garden on Cake Central

This was only my second cake with rolled fondant, and due to time constraints it turned out looking rather sloppy- but it was for my twin sister's birthday (and mine I guess lol) and she loved it. Everything is edible except the rake and the candles - the sand is raw sugar, which made the whole thing QUITE sweet! I've already figured out what to do differently next time, lol

well for one thing, I'd leave more time because well rushed just never works lol, the sloppy bits, mostly because I had run out of brown colour paste, so I had to spend half an hour mxing red and othre ones to get the border to look like wood- which it Didnt lol- and i would do a neater job of it- also I used raw sugar for the 'sand'- but that made the whole thing too sweet- I know about crushed graham wafers now though :)

The rake was part of a real zen garden that I bought at a gift shop. Now that I have more experience with planning and with MMF I think I would have made that also. The 'rocks' were jelly beans I found at a specialty jelly bean store.
