Kass's Cake

Kass's Cake on Cake Central

This was my first wedding cake. It was covered in fondant that I tinted lavender (the color was distorted in the pic) and it had 200 gum paste roses on it. How much would you have charged?? We gave it to them as a "gift" and it cost me $300 to make. Can you believe I didn't even get a thank you note? How much would you charge for a 3tiered square, fondant covered and three DIFFERENT flavored cakes for each tier. Gum paste lilies and orchids and roses.

It was my first WEDDING cake. I had done several cakes before that. My first time at gum paste though. The overlay was a pattern from the wilton pattern book. I put a piece of wax paper over the pattern and gel piped the wax paper very lightly, then I layed it on the cake and used a tip one to make the beads/dots all over the gel. Does that make sense because it felt like rambling. :)

I am new at this so i don't know what a cake like this would cost, but i would be ticked at not getting a thank you!!! This is a very nice gift!!!

Pretty. Are those words or design on the side of the tiers? I'm sure your thank you is yet to come but if not try to remember it's better to give than to receive and you obviously gave a great bit of not just your $ but your talent. Thanks for sharing.

The things on the side of the cake are tiny little beads of BC in a lace overlay pattern. Thanks for all the compliments. It was three years ago, I don't have the fondant tipping problem anymore like I did on the top tier.

Beautiful cake, hard to believe it was your first. I would have charged at least $4.50 per slice and extra for the roses.

I never know what to charge either. I call around to find out the going price per serving in my area. The flowers would cost plenty if you had to buy them, and most bakeries charge extra for decorations like that ....even if they were silk or real. You should have been paid and thanked at the reception which you very likely attended. You did a splendid job.
